I am so shocked that this semester has gone by so fast! I have heard of Social News releases before, but I never really knew what they entailed. I did not think that I would like creating this press release because I thought it would be hard, but it ended up being pretty fun. I really liked the out come of how neat and organized it looks. I like creating a Social Media News Release a lot better than a normal press release. It is a lot more entertaining. A Social Media News Release is when you use the web to make releases more user friendly and can include multimedia easier. Social Media News Releases are similiar to press releases, but they are used through the internet. It is a way to go paperless and readers can access a Social Media news release more quickly. A Social Media News Release lets the public know a certain company or organization exists and lets them know what they have to offer.

Social Media News Release has advantages and disadvantages. An advantage is they make releases more user friendly and useful. Another advantage is the linking, multimedia, and social media are taking place so the web is receiving a lot of action. They move on from the standard pitch text to more interesting pitches such as audio, video, and graphics. This is an easy access for bloggers to see what you company has to offer. Some disadvantages of SMNR are it is hard for some people to get in toch with the news release if they do not know how to work a computer very well. Another disadvantage is if the web is working really slow or if the internet is down. Finally, another advantage could be is there are so many links and tags the SMNR could be limited access to people.

A PR practitioner should consider using a SMNR when they are trying to get a lot of people’s attention because so many people us the web on a daily basis. It is also good because if you want someone to buy something or your company is retailing a product because there are video and other graphics.

It is also to get more people involved in on campus activties. The purpose of the SMNR is to help raise more money for the Georgia Southern Athletics program. The target audience of my SMNR are students at Georgia Southern University, their families, and any one who is interested in sports especially baseball.

Five goals in creating a Social Media News Release are Do your research adn have measurable goals, know your target audience, put your readers first, incorporate multimedia content, and remember it is better to give than receive.

The Semester Comes to an End

In many ways it is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of the semester. This week I ask that you reflect on the semester. What were the highs and the lows? What would you want to change & why? What have you learned that you will take with you into the next semester?

This semester has gone by very fast which is shocking. I have had a pretty good semester, but I have been very busy since I took 19 hours. I had a set schedule every week as I tried to juggle school and work. Some highs were being able to accomplish such a large work load and receiving the internship that I applied for. A couple lows were trying to pass econ because that subject is very difficult for me. Another low was all the papers and projects I had to keep up with, but it feels good those are finally coming to an end. Honestly there is nothing I would really change about the semester. I am happy that I crushed so many classes in a semester so I can finally move on with my life past school work and I had a great time working and spending time with my friends. If I absolutely had to change one thing I would have taken Economics in the summer so it would have been a lot easier, but it is what it is. Since there won’t be a next semester for me I didn’t learn anything for the next semester, but I did learn how to create a media kit in my marketing class and learned aspects to a media kit in this class. That will help me in my field since I am a tourism major and a PR minor, so I will probably have to create stuff like that for the rest of my life.

I just wrote on Noele Crook’s blog saying I completely agree with her when she was saying that it is great motivation for people to write out their goals. It gives people things to look forward to in life. I think she has great goals to accomplish on your bucket list. One thing that is really cool is the goal to go skydiving. My boyfriend went skydiving and he said it was absolutely amazing. I am terrified of the idea of going skydiving, but I think if the opportunity was handed to me I would have to take it.

My Bucket List

I think this is a pretty cool blog to write about. There are a lot of things that I would love to do in my lifetime that I have not done yet. First of all I want to start off with graduating college which will be happening in the next few weeks. Secondly I would love to travel around the world. I have never been out of the country, so going on a relaxing all inclusive trip on a beach somewhere with my boyfriend would be awesome. Traveling is a pretty common goal that a lot of people have. Another goal that I would like to acheive before I die is going white water rafting! I have always wanted to do that since I was little kid. Finally one of the last things on my bucket list is to be on the Real World. That is kind of a werid and immature goal, but I think it would be a lot of fun. I would like to be remembered as an outgoing, easy to talk to, trust worthy, confident person.

I wrote on Lauren’s blog saying I think that she has some great things on your bucket list! The things she wants to do are similar to some of things that I want to do. I would love to travel because I have never been out of the country before. I don’t even have a passport which is pathetic. I would also love to meet Channing Tatum because he is so hot. He is in my top ten celebrities I have a crush on. I really hope that when you are out of school you have the chance to accomplish some of the things on your bucket list.

I told Hallie that I liked her idea of running a campaign to give up your phone for a few days. I think the people who are involved would not be able to last very long with out their phoen. People depend on their phones way more than they should. Some people freak out if they are at school for the day and accidently leave their phone at home.

Texting and Walking

To start off I have definitely been guilty of texting and walking. I am not going to lie I do it multiple times a day. I have never really thought about it being dangerous, but not that I think about it, it can be dangerous. I have almost been run into a lot of times by people not paying attention. Not paying attention on campus can be dangerous in particularly because you could run into a car or a walk out in front of a car. Also if you aren’t paying attention bikers could run into you because they already zoom past with out really paying attention where they are going. For a public relations tatic you could make flyers showing the damages of people who have gotten hurt from a situation like texting and walking and could have a speaker who is already talking about texting and driving to throw in the topic of texting and walking as well.

My Twitter Experience

I want to start off by saying that my twitter experience was good! I always told myself that I would never ever open a twitter account for some reason, but I am happy that I did. I never really wanted Twitter because I thought the whole concept of putting all your thoughts online for everyone to see was kind of silly. I think it is silly because why would someone want to take the time to announce to the world every thought they are thinking and every action they are doing. Even though it is kind of silly I actually found it kind of fun and found out that there is more to the website. I had a pretty good experience, but one thing that was kind of difficult for me during the assignment was being able to get my posts in and have them all spread out. It was hard for me because my internet is cut off for a little bit so I had to go to the library or friends’ houses everytime I wanted to send a tweet, but I managed to accomplish my goals. Twitter and other websites that are similar are a great way for people to get their names out there for people to see and it is also a good source for organizations and businesses to advertise what they have to offer. I think it is cool to follow celebrities and found out their hobbies. I decided I am going to keep my account even though I said I would never get one, because it is a good way to see what jobs and other opportunities that may benefit myself are out there. I probably will nmot check it to often, but there is no reason to get rid of Twitter. For anyone who would like to follow me on Twitter my username is teraKbell.

I wrote on Marley’s blog telling her I remember when I was growing up that I wish I was older such as when I was in middle school I wish I could drive. I told her it is good to live everyday to the fullest even though sometimes we could go back relive some memories.
